The Flying Change

“An Amazing Journey”

The thing about getting a good review is that you quickly take a look to see how discerning they are with their other releases.  It’s not always as satisfying if every single thing they review is loaded with effusive praise.

So it’s with, I guess, some amount of perverse schadenfreude and thus an amount of transparent insecurity and incompleteness (at least I’m aware of it right?), that I point you to this glowing review in Dagger Zine.  Not just because it’s great but because it sits next to a middling review of Bishop Allen and a worse review of Little Joy.  It shouldn’t and I’m sorry but it made me feel good.  I’m sorry.  Seriously.  I feel terrible that I don’t feel terrible.  You feel me?

NY based singer songwriter knows a thing or two about pain as his wife has been suffering for the last half a decade that has had doctors tossing their hands up in the air. They call this stuff “landscape pop” and the songs veer back and forth between downtrodden folk and chaotic pop that occasionally reminded me of Neutral Milk Hotel. It’s an amazing journey with highs, lows and yes, heavenly blows. Snap this up pronto.

Pretty good, no?

    Quick question:
Who reads these blogs? I've never even heard of that site, though I may be a tad out of the loop with that whole internets thing, at least in regards to indie rock. Do these effusive reviews translate to sales or downloads or people checking out the music (ie referring to this site and streaming the album)?

Somewhat :) its about creating levels of awareness. Waves and waves
and ripples. But yes. They do. Takes awhile though good buddy.
