The Flying Change

“A Triumph”

Sarah Morrison is an Interweb friend through Twitter and, it appears with her husband, runs a blog and podcast.  She wrote a really nice review of the record and I love the idea that all of this came to pass as a result of some of the social collaboration and communication I’ve been experimenting with on Twitter.

She points out something that I’m generally fearful of which is that becoming known for blogging or Twittering might feel like getting famous on the Real World or the Bachelorette or something.  But ultimately the music is the music and I can’t be too picky about how people find out about it.

The main point here is that the music connected and I really appreciate the thoughts and consideration that Sarah and the folks at Insomnia Radio gave to listening to the record.

Here’s a nice little quote:

Musically it is a dreamy landscape of delicately layered pop, discordant symphonies of noise and back-to-basics singer-songwriter sensibilities with a whole host of talented musicians thrown in on top. The music of each song works to reflect the temperament of the lyrics and accentuate their emotive power, such that you can’t be a passive listener of this record – you are engrossed.

And, again to the point of my earlier thoughts, I think this sentiment reflects not the expectation that the album will be as known as the great albums of our day but that it is reaching people and stirrig up ripples and if I can keep cranking the machine, maybe we can create some kind of swelling wave and finds its way to Chile and the forgotten lands and all of that.

  • Thanks Sam! Nothing wrong with getting famous for blogging though, just ask Cory Doctorow ;-) Just to clarify though, Stuart Morrison is my Dad not my husband! *shudder* - Sarah
